The return of live events brings with it the chance to resurrect one of our favourite features: live polling. Our multiple choice questions are a chance to test the temperature with advisers on a number of important issues and find out what firms have been doing in the last 12 months.

Some topics are worth revisiting every year, among them how firms are approaching defined benefit transfers and whether consolidators have been knocking on the door of business owners.

Other topics are more of the moment. The day before our event at The Grove hotel in Watford last month, MPs had voted through an increase to the national insurance (NI) rate. We asked advisers what they thought about the move, and about the wave of sustainability launches from fund managers – a relatively recent development in ESG funds.

Votes were cast anonymously, but Citywire New Model Adviser followed up with delegates to find out if they would care to share their thoughts. Read on to see how the 106 advisers in attendance voted and what some of them had to say.
